Peter was born and grew up in what used to be known as communist Czechoslovakia. As a young adult, and through many difficulties, he finally emigrated to the United States, wishing to pursue a career in his dream field - designing firearms. Against very long odds, this wish actually came true, and he has worked for the past 25 years as a well-respected engineer involved in the design and development of firearms for a widely known Utah company. He also become a naturalized American citizen along the way, and although he still makes frequent visits to his native Slovakia, he considers the USA his home. In the 1990's, he met Denny, with whom he found he had many interests in common, and during the early stages of their friendship the idea of the Golden Spike Range began to form and over time they began to hold a few private events there. Through their collective efforts over the past 10 years, the range has become known for a unique offering of shooting events, developing an especial following among military aficionados and Buffalo shooters. As a talented handyman, Peter designs and welds many of the targets that are used on the range, and spends many weekends with Denny working on the property to make sure every event is successful. He attends nearly every match in the role of range officer, spotting and scorekeeping for half of the shooter squads as well as performing maintenance on the targets.
Peter also enjoys building and flying radio controlled airplanes in his spare time, and is lso interested in rifles accurizing (when he's not busy building targets!). He and Sue Sodoma have been married since 2008.
Sue takes care of the design work for the both the vimbar.com and goldenspikerange.com websites. Sue graduated from the University of Utah in 1983 with a BFA in graphic design. She is also a NRA-certified shotgun instructor and loves introducing others to the shotgun sports, especially other women, through teaching women's-only trap classes. She is an avid shotgunner, enjoying upland hunting, skeet, sporting clays and competitive trapshooting. She was the Utah State Ladies Singles trapshooting champion in 2001, and Utah State High Ladies Overall in 2002, as well as a two-time State Trap Team member, winning many other trapshooting titles along the way. She also enjoys participating in Cowboy Action Shooting and ViMBAR. She serves as a scorekeeper, cook, and general all-around errand girl at Golden Spike Range. She and Peter have been married since 2008.
